Will States Stop Cities From Combating Climate Change?

“Cities are going to have to adopt aggressive policies on climate change, I do so under constant threat that [a lawmaker is] going to try to preempt us at the legislature, in a body that has, arguably, a majority of climate deniers.”

The Florida State Legislature is one state that has attempted to preempt laws impacting climate change through their attempt to ban local anti-fracking ordinances. 2017 could be a year where legislatures increase the preemption of the rights of local governments to reduce waste, protect their drinking water, and promote a clean environment.
