City gets support in pro-gun lawsuit

“By subjecting local officials to personal liability for enacting local ordinances and regulations, (the statute) punishes conduct that is quintessentially legislative. The prospect of personal liability will deter qualified individuals from seeking local office, and individuals who do serve may be deterred from voting for valid local regulations for fear of incurring personal liability.”

Supporting Mayor Gillum, members of the City Commission and the City of Tallahassee in the website brought by members of the gun lobby are The Florida League of Cities, the League of Women Voters of Florida, The Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, States United to Prevent Gun Violence, several state legislators, 6 Florida Mayors and a Florida City Councilwoman, and the Cities of Miramar and Weston, Florida.
